Maintain Strong, Healthy Smiles

Routine Cleanings & Checkups

At Sprouting Smiles, your child will be safe and comfortable during their cleaning and checkup. Our San Diego pediatric dentist will begin by cleaning plaque and tartar from their teeth with dental tools. Then, we’ll buff and polish their teeth, and floss to remove any remaining food and other debris.

Next, Dr. Wendy will examine your child’s mouth. X-rays may be recommended during this process if we feel they are necessary. Then, Dr. Wendy will discuss your child’s oral health with you and address any potential areas of concern.

Fight Back Decay

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride treatments use a fluoride-rich gel or paste, which is applied directly to your child’s teeth. The fluoride helps remineralize teeth and reverse decay that is in the beginning stages. It also helps strengthen your child’s teeth to prevent the formation of cavities. Regular six-month fluoride treatments help prevent cavities and keep your child’s teeth strong.

Minimally Invasive Treatment

Silver Diamine Fluoride and SMART Fillings

Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) followed by a SMART (Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Treatment) filling is a way that can help save teeth without the usual drill and fill. When applied to a decaying tooth, the medicine destroys the bacteria that causes cavities. Staining occurs, but it just means that the medicine is working! When followed by a SMART filling we can atraumatically cover the area and help prevent further decay.

Stop Cavities From Forming

Dental Sealants

Dr. Wendy is all about preventive treatment and sealants are a big part of that. This is a protective layer that is applied to your child's teeth to help protect them from getting cavities. Decay tends to sit in the grooves of our back molars. Sealants will seal off these hard to reach grooves to help protect your child's teeth from cavities.

Ensure Proper Oral Development

Space Maintainers

A space maintainer may be needed if your child loses a baby tooth prematurely due to a cavity, infection, or oral injury. Space maintainers are designed to ensure their adult teeth erupt with at least the amount of space they were supposed to have.

Tongue Tie treatment

frenectomies

Tongue ties can make a mother and baby's first weeks more difficult with unnecessary stress and pain. With a laser frenectomy, Dr. Wendy can help make a change to feeding and provide superior results for families in Sabre Springs, Carmel Mountain, Rancho Peñasquitos, Poway, and surrounding areas throughout San Diego.

They can be especially helpful for protecting cavity-prone molars as your child grows.Fluoride treatments can help strengthen tooth enamel and make teeth more resistant to cavities. Dr. Wendy can recommend how often your child should receive fluoride based on their age, dental health, and individual cavity risk.
